The Bridge
The Bridge was opened in June 2005 to provide supported housing for vulnerable young people facing homelessness from Chorley and the surrounding areas.
The scheme has been developed with the input of staff, service users and external agencies. Currently there are plans to develop and widen the support service offered and we have recently introduced a tenant compact, which sets out how we will work with residents to improve the service.
We aim to use this page to enable service users, partnership agencies and potential service users to gain an insight into supported housing. If you wish to supply an article for use on the website please email us.
Latest news at The Bridge
18th March 2008 marked the first open day at the scheme. The aim of the open day was to launch the signing of the first tenant compact and to invite partnership agencies to view the development of the service and scheme since the building was opened in June 2005
All of the residents were involved in deciding the programme of the event and to mark the occasion, residents created an art work for display. Visitors were given a guided tour of the building with two residents taking on the role of 'host' to accompany visitors to their flats and describe what living at the Bridge is like.
Following the tour, guests enjoyed an informal lunch, which provided an excellent opportunity for representatives from visiting agencies including Connexions, DWP and Social Services to talk with staff and service users.
The feedback from residents was excellent and they all agreed that they had really enjoyed talking to staff from head office and other agencies. The also said they felt valued and encouraged that people were interested in their opinions and views.
The following day, the Living Waters Church set up a manicure session, which was hosted in a resident's flat. The church also organised a pizza party to encourage male residents to 'drop in' and be sociable!!!. Easter eggs were also given out.
Living Waters have established close links with the scheme as well as other schemes within Chorley and we are extremely grateful of for their continued support and commitment.
The two events were very successful and opened the way for activities that residents can participate and develop their life skills
