Making It Easier To Select A Home
Date posted: 25th June 2007
Finding a home in South Ribble and Preston has never been easier.
New Progress has joined forces with other local housing providers to form Select Move, a regional choice based lettings scheme. The new scheme will be launched on Monday 6th August.
It will change the way that affordable homes are let to tenants, by making the system simpler to use and more transparent. Anyone searching for a property to rent will be able to see exactly which homes are available and will be able to make their selection. Select Move will cover the whole of South Ribble and Preston, giving applicants and existing tenants a wider choice in the area where they live.
The Select Move partnership also includes South Ribble Borough Council, Preston City Council, Community Gateway Association, Eaves Brook Homes and Adactus Housing Association. When you register with Select Move you will be able to view available properties from all of the housing providers. All applicants on the waiting list will be transferred to the new scheme, so they will not need to re-apply.
Gary Melia, Head of Housing Operations, says:
"We are committed to giving people more choice about where they live. Tenants will now have the chance to choose the home they live in, rather than being allocated a property."
