Level three | Start a Community Association Having a Community Association for local tenants and residents means that you have a collective voice for your community. An association can help to make improvements to, or tackle problems, in the area where you live. Associations can look into more than just housing issues. They can invite other relevant organisations to attend meetings, such as the local police or youth service. They can also organise social events and fundraisers to bring the local community together. If you would like to start a group, we will give you the necessary support. We will help get groups off the ground by producing publicity, providing funding and running your initial meetings. How much of my time will it take? Group members decide how often they will meet, what they will discuss and for how long. You may find that there is a lot to do when you first set up a group, but it should take less time to manage when it is up and running. Will I need to travel or attend meetings? Associations generally meet within their own communities.
