Silver Surfers
Computers have been installed at the majority of our retirement schemes as part of our Silver Surfer project. There are computers, a printer, scanner and digital camera for residents to use free of charge, along with access to the world wide web.
Residents are all working to their own pace. Some are learning basic skills whilst others are enjoying the various programs, including personalised cross-stitch and desk top publishing to name but a few.
The first Silver Surfers were at Lowerhouse and they are now experts with the digital camera. They take pictures at all their social activities which they are able to email to other users. All this has been made possible by the funding received by The Northern Rock Foundation, Helen Hamlyn and Zochonis.
